“You Got Me Singing “: Reading the Bible with Leonard Cohen
A four day retreat weekend with Seán Goan,
on the west coast of Clare.
In this weekend we will reflect on the Scriptures using the lyrics of Leonard Cohen to help us explore the paradox of living by faith in a world that is broken.
Cohen himself used the image of “inhabiting the biblical landscape” to express the urgent need to recognise that in the biblical tradition God is both present and absent.
In the midst of all our searching and longing we are invited to engage with our experience so that we might recognize the ways God reaches us. Many of Leonard Cohen’s songs bear beautiful testimony to the value of being attentive to that mysterious presence.
