An Ashram Experience in May
A very special summer weekend in west Clare!
We are delighted to welcome back Jane and Saule for this June retreat by the sea, offering elements of yoga and ashram living, with stillness and meditation. Suitable for beginners. All welcome, please do call with any questions.
An ashram retreat is an opportunity to nourish the body, calm the mind and get in touch with your true self, growing in awareness of the Divine within. The weekend introduces spiritual practices from the Yogic path, a combination of gentle Hatha Yoga and various types of meditation and reflection, under guidance. Everyone is welcome and no experience necessary.
This type of retreat, a yogic path, offers us practical ways of growing in spiritual awareness in a chaotic world, to open oneself to union with God (the Christ within), with people and with the natural world.
The retreat aims to help participants in the practice of the asanas (Hatha Yoga), contemplation in action (karma yoga), bhakti yoga (union through devotion) and jnana yoga (union through knowledge (e.g. wisdom teachings from the mystics or scriptures).
On Thursday eve we will arrive at 6pm for a welcome, dinner and an introduction to the weekend. We will start each morning (Fri, Sat and Sunday) at 8am with yoga followed by breakfast. There will be plenty of time between sessions for walks, journaling and resting in nature, and we will finish on Fri, Sat and Sunday evening before 8pm to allow for restful evenings.
Yoga mats will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own. The FCJ Spirituality House is located in a quiet area by the sea in Spanish Point with many gentle walks nearby.
Jane Mellett is a qualified yoga and meditation teacher. She has worked in pastoral ministry for over ten years and is also a qualified Spiritual Director.
