A Christian Ashram Experience with Jane Mellett

A Christian Ashram retreat is a time to come away and immerse yourself in silence and the yogic path. It is a time to nourish the body, calm the mind and come to know your true self. These days consist of spiritual practices from the Yogic path which offers us a very practical way of growing in spiritual awareness in a chaotic world; to open oneself to union with the Divine (the Christ within), with people and with the natural world.

We step away from the noise of daily life and enter a sacred rhythm of stillness, reflection, and gentle movement. Rooted in the ancient Christian Ashram tradition, this weekend retreat offers space to deepen your communion with the Divine through meditation, yoga, silence, nature and the simplicity of shared community life.

This retreat embraces silence but is fully guided as Jane leads participants in the practice of the asanas (gentle Hatha Yoga and other practices such as Deep Relaxation); contemplation in action (karma yoga), bhakti yoga (union through devotion) and jnana yoga (union through knowledge e.g. learning more about the yogic system, the mystics or readings from sacred scripture).

Whether you are new to contemplative practice or seeking deeper renewal, this retreat invites you to rest in Divine love and rediscover the joy of awareness.

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you.” –  John 15:4

Details: The cost of this 4 day retreat weekend is €350 residential and €250 non residential.

The purpose of centering prayer is not to experience peace, but to clear the unconscious obstacles to the permanent abiding state of union with God. Centering prayer is not so much an exercise of attention as intention. Our intention is to be present to God’s presence and actions in our lives. Centering prayer is not a way of turning on the presence of God. Rather, it is a way of saying “Here I am.” \Scene from house looking out over the sea. Top of image, sun shining through cloud.
