6 day Directed Retreat by the sea
Directors Kathryn Lennon FCJ and Frank Downes OP
The Ignatian Directed retreat is a special time set aside from life’s busyness and an opportunity to be consciously present with and to God in our lives today.
We hold silence for the days of the retreat so that the retreatant can focus on being fully in the present in this beautiful place, and so fully present to God and themselves.
We arrive in the evening for supper followed by an introduction to the retreat. Each person is assigned a spiritual director whom they will meet briefly each morning, to accompany and support the retreatant on their personal journey. We start the silence after this introduction, and stay in that quiet until the final morning.
Six days allows each person time, through silence, nature, art or writing, to reflect and hear God in a particularly special way on these directed retreats. Each day has the opportunity for morning spiritual direction, evening mass and a time of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, as people wish.
While some worry about their comfort with silence, in truth once we put the phone and newspaper down for a day; we all relish the calm and ease of living in the present for a few days!
This retreat is always residential, to support the stillness of the retreat. Please note rooms are not en-suite – every 2 or 3 bedrooms shares a bathroom. Each bedroom has a washbasin, armchair, desk and single bed. Linen and Towels are provided.
We have only 11 places on each retreat so please contact us to register interest if you cannot book your place immediately. We are happy to arrange payment over time in advance, or deposit options, as needed. Please email us with any queries.
